Project Overview
Jay Jhaveri, a senior software engineer specializing in AI and integration systems, needed a personal site to clearly convey his expertise, projects, and resume. The previous version lacked visual clarity, strong hierarchy, and clear calls to action. The goal was to reskin the site for a cleaner aesthetic and improved UX—within a very short timeframe.
Objective
- Create a modern, clean personal site for a technical audience
- Ensure the design aligns with Jay's professional branding
- Make portfolio and contact actions easily accessible
Approach
With only a few hours available, I focused on: UX Audit: Quick analysis of the previous version's content structure and hierarchy Reskin in Figma: Redesigned the layout with a minimalist aesthetic, emphasizing whitespace, font weight contrast, and hierarchy Micro-interactions & CTAs: Designed clear, inviting call-to-actions (“View Projects” and “Download Resume”) placed above the fold
Design Decisions
- Typography & Whitespace: Used bold typography and ample spacing to convey confidence and clarity
- Modular Layout: Adopted a card-based grid system for future scalability
- Header CTA Visibility: Made the navigation sticky with high contrast to improve usability
Outcomes
Despite the tight 3-hour turnaround, the site achieved:
- aster Navigation: Reduced visual clutter led to a 40% improvement in time-to-click for primary CTAs (measured via Vercel analytics on interaction time)
- Improved Aesthetic Perception: Informal feedback from viewers described the design as “clean,” “professional,” and “easy to navigate”
- Increased Engagement: Resume downloads increased within the first 3 days compared to the previous version
